Honda (honda.com) is a Japanese public multinational conglomerate corporation primarily known as a manufacturer of automobiles. Along with cars, they also manufacture motorcycles and power equipment. 

In their nearly 75 years in business, they’ve become the first Japanese automobile manufacturer to release a dedicated luxury brand (Acura), been the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer since 1959, and have even ventured into aerospace.

The Challenge

Honda was looking for a smart and data-driven SEM agency to help amplify their digital footprint of car models in South America. Their primary goal was to generate awareness for the new Civic hatchback and Accord models from people who were actively seeking to purchase a new car.

They also have a network of new and used dealer partners who have similar keyword targets as the manufacturer. This was leading to the potential of driving up costs through self-competition and cannibalizing within the Google Ads auction environment.

The Solution

HawkSEM met with Honda and discussed the brand’s customers’ needs, their unique selling points, and key performance objectives. From there, we crafted new landing pages, YouTube influencer pre-roll ads, campaigns targeted to specific audiences aligned with Honda’s target demographic. We also created customized ad schedules, and remarketing for search and display ads to reach potential customers already familiar with the brand.

We worked to understand the goals of Honda’s Google Ads efforts, as well as the dealer partners’ goals. With that information, we created keyword targets for the manufacturer and dealers to follow. This way, they could bid on high-value keywords and establish campaigns to further their business goals without self-competing or cannibalization.

Together, HawkSEM and Honda developed a strong working relationship focused on continually refining offers advertised in SEM and SEO campaigns. Furthermore, we worked to promote those offers through increasingly smarter YouTube and display strategies.
