Radar (radar.com) provides mobile and web app location infrastructure to thousands of companies, from SMBs and startups to big-name enterprises.

The brand’s location-based product offerings include geofencing, geocoding, trip tracking, points-of-interest (POI) datasets, and a centralized Google Maps alternative. 

Founded in 2016 by two former Foursquare colleagues, Radar aims to leverage location services to better connect digital and physical worlds for industries ranging from retail and restaurants to travel and gaming. Their impressive roster of clients includes Panera Bread, T-Mobile, Zappos, and Whataburger. 

The Challenge:

The Radar team was interested in increasing their pipeline opportunities as well as their overall lead volume through paid search campaigns.

In the past, it had struggled with attracting quality contacts as well as the right enterprise-level businesses. Radar is in a highly competitive space, so the goal was to not only capture demand but win it as well. 

The Solution:

To attract the right technical client persona, the HawkSEM team began by updating Radar’s keyword strategy to include fewer top-of-funnel general keywords and focused more on the language of their decision-makers.

From there, we reallocated spend to longer-tail keywords and specific modifiers than the general language.

Next, we focused less on specific industries and more on the use case of the software. We veered away from audiences and display remarketing to hone in on the search keywords to test where opportunities existed.

Since Radar exists in such a competitive market with many other software companies that offer the same service, we chose to enhance our competitor strategy, landing pages, and value propositions to showcase the brand as a leader in the industry.

The Results:

While partnering with HawkSEM to enhance paid search efforts, Radar was able to: 

  • Increase pipeline opportunities by 125%
  • Grow lead volume by 68%
  • Boost paid search website traffic by 42%
