Escape the Room Garners More than 4 Million Monthly Impressions to Maintain Top Industry Status

It’s a race against the clock to solve a series of challenging puzzles before your time is up! Escape the Room brings together friends, family, coworkers, and more to experience interactive, immersive games set in hyper-realistic situations with elaborate environments. It’s a fun and entertaining experience that makes participants put their heads together and think outside the (literal) box. Since 2013, Escape the Room has grown to more than 18 cities — and counting.

The Challenge

The team behind the live game and entertainment company wanted to keep growing their brand while expanding their online footprint through both paid and organic digital marketing efforts. They had the structures in place, but needed to optimize processes to take their digital marketing to the next level. That’s where HawkSEM came in.

The Solution

HawkSEM partnered with 16 Escape the Room locations to help manage their search, display, remarketing, paid social, and SEO efforts. After ensuring they had the proper tracking in place, we reworked a handful of key display and remarketing assets, helped roll out new ad extensions and location-based campaigns, and penned new ad copy to boost their clickthrough rate (CTR). On the SEO side, we helped them craft new website designs, publish new content, and added new SEO elements like meta descriptions and title tags. We also prioritized mobile responsiveness and switched out a few assets to make the sites more lightweight and speedy.

The Results

While partnering with HawkSEM, Escape the Room was able to: 

  • Reach an account-wide peak of 62% impression share
  • Drive a record number of clicks and impressions
  • Reach an average account-wide ad position of 1.1, an all-time high for the brand at that time

California State University, Northridge Doubles Qualified Leads While Cutting CPA in Half

California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is a public university in Los Angeles’s San Fernando Valley. The campus is part of the California State University system and was first established in 1958.

With a total student enrollment of 40,000, it serves as one of the largest universities in California. CSUN offers a variety of degrees including 134 bachelor programs, master’s degrees in 70 different fields, 3 doctoral degrees, and 24 teaching credentials. 

The Challenge

CSUN’s marketing department knew that having an online presence would continue to be an increasingly important element when it came to connecting with prospective students, filling out under-enrolled programs, and meeting the more intangible goals of awareness-raising and outreach. They decided to partner with an agency to get the results they wanted and, after a competitive vetting process, they chose to work with HawkSEM.

The Solution

The HawkSEM team met with CSUN to determine their needs, unique selling points, and performance objectives. From there, they crafted a tailor-made plan to help them achieve their goals. This plan included creating action-oriented ad copy, relevant landing pages, thorough conversion tracking, ad extensions, a strong list of negative keyword, and various remarketing campaigns. 

The Results

  • Drive 50% more qualified leads than their past agency
  • Reduce cost per acquisition (CPA) by more than 50%

MileIQ’s Long-Term SEO Plan Expands Global Reach, Increases Organic Site Traffic by 125%

The mission of MileIQ (mileiq.com) to be the most seamless and stress-free mileage logging mobile app. Acquired by Microsoft in 2015, MileIQ automates the mile-logging process through their precise recording, one-swipe classifications for business or personal travel, and special features that let you customize your log for more accurate deductions and reimbursements.

The Challenge

MileIQ wanted to improve their SEO, increasing the year-over-year amount of high-quality organic traffic to their site and app. Their goals included more organic rankings, higher rankings overall, and leveraging higher volume search terms. They knew that more traffic was great, but more high-quality traffic meant conversions — that’s where HawkSEM came in.

The Solution

Knowing that better SEO doesn’t just happen overnight, the HawkSEM team undertook various efforts to continuously improve MileIQ’s organic footprint and site traffic. They focused on elements like featured snippets by answering common search questions concisely through in-depth information to gain more authority.

The team expanded MileIQ’s global reach to align with new national and international markets through new content and backlink strategies. They also prioritized updating older content, ensuring their site map was accurate, improving page speed, and optimizing their entire website through meta tags, page titles, descriptions, and more.

Campaign Leverages PPC and SEO to Drive 7.5x More Online Revenue While Decreasing Digital Costs

Campaign (campaignliving.com) is a Bay Area-based furnishings company with a focus on modern design, easy assembly, and quality manufacturing. Since 2015, they’ve made a name for themselves in the furniture industry through a commitment to creating thoughtfully designed pieces that are built to last.  

The Challenge

Campaign wanted to lower their digital marketing costs and increase conversions for their online marketing efforts, but they weren’t sure where to begin or the best course they should take. That’s where HawkSEM came in.

The Solution

The HawkSEM team got Campaign focused on PPC (with an emphasis on Paid Search and Shopping Feeds) and SEO strategies in tandem. They started off on PPC efforts for brand-focused terms while also building out branded content and quality backlinks to improve their organic rankings. After that, the Hawk team switched their PPC focus from branded terms to non-branded terms, casting a wider net to drive new visitors. PPC efforts introduced new prospects to the brand, while SEO efforts sealed the deal when those visitors returned to the Campaign site.   

The Results

  • Increase overall online revenue 7.5x year over year
  • Decrease overall digital costs by 68%
